Sketching Meet-up Resources

Here's our own Jeanette Sclar at a sketchcrawl!

Maria Hodkins commented on the interview with Liz Steel, "I love to meet up with other sketchbook journalers--I wonder if we could somehow create a "bulletin board" or other technique where journalers could post the location they will be traveling to and others could respond, so we could meet up with those we don't know and have some fun!"

I think this is a marvelous idea, and have been fortunate enough to get together with Maria, more than once, as well as with correspondents Liz Steel, Jeanette Sclar, Steve Penberthy, Vicky Williamson and more, so if you wish, correspondents, please let me know where you're going to be to be if you'd like to meet with other sketchers.

We'll edit it as we go along so that dates that have past are deleted...

Reader Jan Olsen reminds us of these:
The Sketchcrawl is a great event and super fun. Especially when folks from 'round the world share their images. So cool!  Here's the link to the gateway page for Sketchcrawl: http://www.sketchcrawl.com/forum/

-- The Meetup website is a great place to either find or create local sketch groups: http://www.meetup.com. As an example, there is a group here in the DC Metro area, The Plein Air Painters Meetup, and its page is here: http://www.meetup.com/art-401/

The keen thing is that if there isn't a sketch group in your city, that website allows you to create one.

Incidentally, there is a "Washington DC metro / Plein Air Guide Map" in Google Maps, for folks visiting DC and looking for nice sketch/plein air venues: http://bit.ly/frkqmB
Thanks, Jan!
