Lots of people know I begin each of my artist's journals with some kind of illustration of my palette. Lately, I have used the last page as a place to collect memorable quotes or thoughts. These are usually gathered over a period of time, so they are generally scattered in a hap-hazard fashion.
I've also seen a journal artist using the last page or two as a calendar, drawing in the calendar themselves with a splash of color or tiny motifs. Maybe I might try that in the future, if the journal has lots of pages.

DeleteOh, I love that idea! Nice...I seem to use my back page as a place to put notes, phone numbers, lists, reminders...yours is a lot prettier.
ReplyDeleteThis year, I have a separate Moleskine calendar book for notes, lists, appointments, etc, or I would add that to the back pages as well. Bought the Moley thing on a whim, so I could gut it at the end of the year and put in my own paper. Fun size for keeping in a purse.
DeleteYou do such beautiful binding...I can't imagine being neat enough to refill a Moley! I do love that rich leather feel, though...
DeleteMy very first binding attempt was re-filling this size Moley, following "Trumpetvine Travels" demo. What made it look so neat, I think, was using a curved-corners paper punch, matching the same corners as the original paper. Unfortunately, my rounded corners punch broke.

ReplyDeleteI am definitely a creature of habit - more so with my last pages then my first. I usually try and draw my pencils on the first page of a new Moleskine sketchbook, but the last pages are always filled with scribbled notes and names and websites and book titles that I have given while talking to people when sketching.
DeleteThat's how my last pages are too, Alissa. Front almost always has my name and how to get in touch if the journal is found, and an offer of a small reward...too bad I didn't have that in the little accordion Jeep journal I just lost...
Oh, I have plenty of those messy note/list/scribble type of pages . . . . I just don't post those! :^P
