Good Medicine

Think Day by PJBee
Think Day, a photo by PJBee on Flickr.

After having myself immersed in non-stop work for the last four months I declared a 'Think Day'. No computer... no phone... just a day to get my bearings.

I know of no better tonic than to sit with a sketchbook/journal and favorite writing instrument and hash out life's current questions.

A bonus is having a much loved dog curled up between your legs :)

  1. VERY NICE ARTWORK AND MEDICINE! ART IS MY MEDICINE OF THE DAY TOO. :)

  2. Questions we often ask ourselves, Pam...good ones. And what a lovely page to remind you of your think day.

  3. That's Karma's favorite place to curl up, too. Great sketch!

When in doubt, do nothing. Wait, listen to your heart, and the way will become clear. :):)

  5. Thank you Darel, Kate, Rita and Cindy! Creating for heart and soul is a big one for me :) Art.... my tonic of choice :) Hey, is there a bumper sticker in here?

  6. I think that's one reason I do so much in my journal, Pam...it can't be "for sale," I don't have to worry about it. Though I often end up sharing it, I do it for me, because _I_ need to.

  7. Can you separate them out—your reasons and the different areas they touch? I can't. Art and soul are almost always present and when they're not, the results show the absence.

Good for you for taking the time to really come back to what is most import—you and you're furry friends!

  8. Great post Cathy...I think all of us artists have the same questions...I know I do anyways. How to find the balance? I don't know. I struggle every day with it. But I'm still painting, and still creating from my heart, and although I don't get to paint the things I love a lot of the time, I still love to paint.
(And I'm going to get myself a dog! LOL!)

  9. Kate & Laure,
I need to journal, also. Heart & soul. Will it be enough if I agree to full time employment instead of a flexible 30 hours a week? There are things I can't give up, things I've worked on too hard to promote and grow. Time management... that's where I'm heading. Balance will be mine :)

Tahirih, Yes, you hit it..... balance.
