My Usual Colors...sort of...
This is what I was using last year for my usual palette in my old repurposed Prang box. I'm moving away from the Cadmiums now, and I don't use Transparent Yellow as much as I did...the sap green is gone, too, but everything else is pretty much standard, when I'm NOT using the limited primaries palette!

If you are not using the cad. yellow or transparent yellow much, are you using a different yellow, and if so, which? Just curious! ;)
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I'm trying Hansa Yellow Medium. I miss Cad Yellow, though!
DeleteI love Nickel Azo yellow and New Gamboge. I am finding out that I like the warmer yellows, which I wouldn't have known if I hadn't started using the limited palette. Great experiment, it's good to simplify! I'm learning about paints, could you share what you like about Cad yellow?
ReplyDeleteSometimes I like New Gamboge and sometimes not...no idea why, really! I like Cad Yellow Medium because it's a good pure, clear yellow, and also that like all Cads, it, has some opacity to it. I find that useful sometimes. I'm not one of those that insist on all transparent colors, though that's nice too...I like some opacity when I need it, and LOVE granulating colors. Not that the Cads do...I'm just rambling.
