Hi Laure i have u on my google reader and wanted to ask could u please give us the name of the actual pen u are using as there are many different ones and some quite expensive thanks email@example.com
Hey, Bev, the name of this pen is a Duke Calligraphy and Fountain Pen. It is a dual set with both nibs for the one pen. I purchased it from eBay Seller, yespen. It came from China and took about three weeks to arrive. The shipping is/was free. Let me know if I can answer further questions!
WONDERFUL video, Laure, THANK YOU. Off to eBay...WANT.
Hmmm, they say turn about is fair play, Ms. Kate! I'm wondering if I'm going to have to purchase another Lamy now!
;-D Joseph says there's no WAY I could carry just one pen, and I think he's probably right...hey, what if I ran out of ink??And by the way, my Duke is on the way...
Looks cool. What does she mean by railroading, and fit and finish?Carolyn
Ok, i still can't figure out which pen it is I looked at the site...can you send a link?
This looks very cool! I have never used a fountain pen before. Where do get refill ink? Is the ink waterproof? Thanks!:o) Wendi
You can find Sailors version of this type of pen at Jetpens, here-- http://www.jetpens.com/index.php/cPath/625_836They also sell ink cartridges, ink converters for this pen, and fountain pen ink- including Platinum carbon ink. They are fast and cheap, $15 for the pen. I'm not affiliated, just a happy customer.
Yay, Kate! Why in the world would you want to carry just one pen?!!Carolyn, with some fountain pens, if you press too hard on the nib to get a wider line, the points of the nib separate and then make parallel tracks on your paper but don't usually lay down ink. They call that railroad. Fit and finish is the finish of the pen, how well it's created. For $15.00 or less, keep your expectations low!Tascarini, go to YESPEN on eBAY. That is the vendor I bought my pen from.Hi, Wendi, the ink I'm using in the video is Platinum Carbon Black. It is permanent and waterbrook. Just Google it. You'll find it all over the web. The pen comes with a converter so that you can fill it with whatever kind of ink you want rather than cartridges. Thanks RaSonya! I'll have to take a look at theirs as well!
Got the Duke Pen, WAY earlier than I expected, and I really like it! FUN, thank you! I found a "Buy it Now" on eBay, and whereas it didn't come with an extra nib, it's very pleasing to hold and use...The Sailor version of this type of pen will let you turn the nib over for VERY fine lines, which my Duke won't do, but it does do really gorgeous calligraphy...at least as gorgeous as I can manage!
FFyrebird, I have a question about the sailor pen. I saw from the website that it produces text that looks a lot like brush strokes. Can one also use this pen to create more traditional calligraphy?
Hey, LaurieThanks for the post and the video! I ordered one of these pens and just received it -- it's beautiful. I'm wondering, though, whether the spring was installed correctly. Would you be willing to look at a photo and give me your opinion? I'd really appreciate it. Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30488860@N04/5766940116/in/photostreamThanks!
I ordered the Duke pen and wowsy it got back really quick. Now I have another question...I filled it with speedball black ink and it keeps stopping. Since this is my very first pen of this type am I doing something wrong? The lines I made so far are way fun...
So far I've just used Noodler's Lexington Gray in mine, is the Speedball an India Ink? Some just don't work well in fountain type pens...
Just bought one! :D Can't wait to see it...I bought from this seller at eBay:http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Chinese-Office-Supplies-StoreLook for Duke 209 Double Nibshttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330586708463#ht_5685wt_956
I just bought my second one...REALLY like this pen!
Mine arrived yesterday! Finally!!! \o/ YAY!
Hello Kathy and Laure, I was wondering if you (or anyone else for that matter) could purchase one of these Duke pens for me and ship it to my US address? I don't buy from ebay. Thank you!
Hi Sheean...sorry it took a while to get back to you! Sorry, try Googling for the Duke pen, you may be able to find it elsewhere.
Really glad that I found this old post. I searched for this pen in March 2014 (not very optimistic) but I found it and bought it. The variation in line width from the Art Nib is incredible. I paid $9.40 which included postage to Australia. BARGAIN!
Glad you got one, Alanti!
We'd love your feedback...please share your thoughts!
